Anniversary

Yesterday, Sunday, October 28th, marked the anniversary of Brad's seizure followed by his surprising diagnosis.  I know we all remember that day, even if it's in bits and pieces.  Never in a million years did I dream that we'd be playing bridge at the same tournament one year later!  As tough as it has been at times, I feel extremely blessed!  (and, yesterday I wondered WHICH one of us had brain issues....my bridge playing left something to be desired).
Friday I met two amazing women who both have husbands (one 57 and one 70) going through the same brain tumor/surgery/radiation/chemo.  We have formed our own little support group and have plans to meet a couple of times a month.  It's particularly interesting that the three of us live within about a mile radius.  Makes us wonder about environmental contributions to their illnesses.  Again, I was feeling fortunate when comparing our situations in that Brad was diagnosed before his tumor was a stage 4, like the other two, and so glad we went the University Hospital route rather than having the surgery done locally (Loveland) .
Afterwards, I went shopping in search of a dress for the Halloween party Saturday night.  Found a delightful burgundy lace one at the (brand new!) Goodwill store for $6.00.  Brad and I made quite the "adorbs" couple in our prom outfits.
We (Carrie & Spencer and Curt & Amie) met here prior to going to the party.  I rolled my eyes when Gramma told Brad how nice he looked all dressed up- and she was serious!  I think those white patent leather shoes and a baby blue tux (ill fitting or not) signify "dressed up" in her mind.

Anyway, we sure had fun dressing up.  Carrie showed up in her Dolly Parton outfit with some pretty realistic accessories!  Just sayin....  Spencer initially didn't want to wear a costume, but was talked into one after all.  It's crazy what a pair of old panty hose and a couple of golf balls will add to an outfit!
Curt and Amie were pirates.  Grandma Susan drove up to babysit and stated that Amie looked more like a "pirate stripper"

The party was a success, although can I just say that one or more of the six of us had just a smidge too much "witches brew"?
In other family news, please keep Heather, Matt and baby girl in your prayers this week as she has been experiencing some pregnancy related problems.  From Ogallala, Meredith is travelling this week with a trip to DIA yesterday where she'll be in Arizona until Wednesday.  Spencer's team scored a kazillion point against their opponents again on Friday night and will head for the playoffs.  The boys had another garage sale at Gramma's house on Saturday and got rid of more stuff from that garage.  Bella (Carrie and Spencer's dog) found a new home and is adjusting.  Grayson fell off his parents bed while wrestling with Sophie yesterday and smacked his eye on the nightstand.  Amie said that the sound alone made her think they were on their way to the ER!  They had all of us over after our bridge game last night for a yummy dinner of hamburgers on the grill!  Have a happy Monday!
