the last Monday of January

Happy Monday!  Another stellar week has vanished and I'm wondering what this new week will bring. You never know.....Kinda like Colorado weather, one day coats and gloves and the next sunscreen!
As most of you already know, my mother, who was suffering from a bad case of sciatica, was taken by ambulance to the hospital on Friday.  She was unable to get up when her ride came to pick her up for a scheduled MRI, so she ended up in the hospital, had an MRI and then was diagnosed with a synovial cyst and a ruptured disc.  Today she will undergo a steroid injection and if that does the trick, she'll be on her way.  If not, they will do surgery.  We are all glad that she was hospitalized, as she had been in pain for several days.
Besides a trip to Denver Friday to see Mom, the weekend was pretty "kid friendly".  Saturday morning we attended simultaneous basketball (Sophie) and soccer (Corbin) games.  Both kids did well.

That afternoon, Corbin had a basketball game in Evans, playing with some of the same players as last year.  Fun to watch the improvement from year to year.

Sunday we went to see a movie with the kids, "Strange Magic"...not one of my favorites, but the girls seemed to enjoy it and Grayson made it through with enough snacks to keep him entertained! Afterwards, we had dinner- Grandpa's spaghetti and meatballs and a chocolate cake by Meredith. Gabi wanted whipped cream on hers, so we whipped about a quarter of a cup of whipping cream leftover from something, which seemed to be a new experience....It made the dessert extra delicious....or so they said......

On the B-Rad scene, Brad has really gotten into his model car kits, completing one last week and purchasing another. Glad to see him doing something.  He has an MRI Tuesday with the follow-up on Thursday, so as always, keep him in your thoughts.  His language loss continues and he'll say things like" how many potatoes do we use for this stuff?"  (He was actually wanting to know how many onions the recipe called for) or "I need some of that orange fruit" (carrots) or "what time are you going to the pool? (movie).  Sometimes it can get a little frustrating (understatement) for us all, trying to decipher his expressions!
