This morning when I got up, I fully intended to write my weekend news, but unfortunately, I awoke after shutting off my alarm clock off at 5:30 (thinking I was putting it on snooze) and jumping out of bed at 7:05. Yikes! I have to be at work at 7:30 on Mondays.....What a way to start the week..... Friday began with a showing of the house (what is it with people who have time to look at real estate during the holidays?) at 9:00am, so I met with my "coffee-mate", taking Gramma with me to shop at King Soopers while I was having coffee at Starbucks, which is connected to the store. After visiting with my friend, I took Gramma to get her gift for our Christmas gift exchange. Afterwards, I did a little shopping on my own while Brad was doing a job for a bridge friend in Ft. Collins.Luckily Curt and Spencer went with him, helping to get the job finished. Curt let me know that Brad shouldn't be taking on any more electrical jobs as he's not really capable anymore. It's sad because he thinks he still has the skills it takes to complete a job.
That afternoon, Amie brought Sophie over while at an appointment and then we went to watch Grayson sing in the annual Christmas program at the Daycare. He did great!
Saturday began with a drive to Grammas' shampoo/set and followed by the construction of some little graham cracker houses, made the non-edible. but sturdy way, by hot gluing the crackers together!
Saturday night, Amie and Curt, Carrie and Spencer went to dinner and Brad and I took the kids to the UCCC to see "Junie B.Jones, Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" It was short and kept their attention. Afterwards, we saw the "star" of the show and were able to get pictures with her. Grayson wasn't sure about that one!
The plan for Sunday was to get together to decorate the faux gingerbread houses at our house, until we were informed of another showing on Sunday afternoon. Carrie agreed to have the mess at her house, so we packed up the stuff after cleaning (grrrrr....including Gramma's application of a sticker to the french door leading into her room, which had to be removed with a razor blade.....) and headed to Eaton. The project lasted longer than anticipated and even Grayson got really into it, with his blue frosting and blue M & M's. Emma and Elijah did amazing work on theirs as well. All afternoon, Gramma entertained "Cupcake" (Gabi's kitty)
Midway, Amie picked up Sophie as she had tickets to see "The Grinch" onstage in Denver. They reported (as did others) that it was fantastic! After cleaning up frosting, the kids play Jenga and Operation while Meredith, Carrie and I worked on a jigsaw puzzle. We ended the day with a great dinner of grilled steaks and fried potatoes. Thanks, Spencer!
I'd like to end today's post with a little quote from Jack Handy, sent to me by Meredith. Seems appropriate!
Happy Christmas week!
