Stampede Part 2

Who'd have thought that the Stampede would be our source of summer entertainment this year? Not only did we take all the Mothers, mother-in-laws and Grandmas to the festivities, but a number of friends and of course all of the family.  This year, we attended nearly every one of the 14 meals and most of the events. It's definitely going to be a jolt to cook our own meals this week, to say nothing of looking forward to a full work week.

Monday and Tuesday Mom was here and had a dental appointment at my office on Monday,( how's that for excitement?) and then we took her home Wednesday morning following a visit to Brad's doctor at University Hospital.  Nancy left Tuesday taking Gabi with her to California for ten days.  The texts that we've gotten so far indicate that she's having a fabulous time.  Lucky girl!

Then Wednesday Meredith, Emma and Elijah arrived just in time for dinner (at the Stampede, of course).

And, then it was the 4th!  We had a great time and everyone was especially happy that day.  Most of the family went swimming at Bittersweet pool before dinner when I tried out a recipe for In & Out Burgers via Pinterest and Amie brought the Peach Cobbler (circa 1989ish from Taste of Home) and ice cream.  After dinner, we played Balderdash (and even Brad was able to play along), then it was time for fireworks.

Curt and Spencer (naturally) supplied the fireworks, which began with boxes of "poppers" that the kids threw at one another's feet.  Grayson was a little intimidated by the noise, but was fine sitting with Gramma at a safe distance from the action!
On Friday, Emma met up with her friend Mary to go shopping, then it was out to the Stampede for dinner and rides for the big kids.  Unfortunately, Emma and Rory suffered motion sickness after a few spins, and we called it a night sooner than we planned.
Saturday was a G.A.O. (girls afternoon out, according to Emma) and Meredith, Carrie, Gramma, Emma and Sophie went to Ft. Collins for the afternoon.  They stopped at Charmin Charlies, ate lunch at Hu Hot and went to Sam's Club, all the time taking Gramma and her walker.  She was amazed at Sam's, having never been there before!  They were even able to drop off a few items at Doug's apartment, after waking him up at 2:30pm.....ah, good to know there are still things that can be counted on!
Saturday night was adult night at the Stampede with a performance by Trace Adkins.  I love his voice!  After a few beers, Amie did a little performing of her own on the buckin bronco ride!

Sunday began with the phone fiasco spurred by inadvertently laundering Brad's cellphone on Saturday.  Note to self:  These are not washing machine compatible!  We went to the Verizon store to simply replace the battery and left with new phones and bags full of stuff!
Here's where we had B.A.O. (boys afternoon out) celebrated by a day at the Demolition Derby.Love this pic of my dad and my son...
Wow, what a week!  Happy Monday everyone!
