March ends.....

Wow, this month went blowing (literally) right by!
Brad and I went to Memphis over my birthday week to play in the ACBL Nationals. We had a great time playing bridge, eating at wonderful restaurants and enjoying the sites with our friend Beth.    Memphis has a trolley system, making it fun to access most destinations.

One of the quirkiest places we've ever been was the day
we travelled to Holly Springs, Mississippi, intending to see
a plantation tour, but coming across this blue house known
as "Graceland Too".  We were told by the locals to just knock
on the door and Paul would give us a tour.  Paul was the
oddest person I've ever met!  We look forward to seeing
him on an episode of "My Strange Addiction or Obsession".
He was a hoarder of Elvis memorabilia.

Just one of many roomfuls of Elvis stuff

We did see some beautiful sites, as well.

Catching up...

Looking great at 92!
Looking pretty good for 35!

Grayson going for a bite of Dorito
Well, so much for keeping up on my Sunday blog.  I'm now two Sundays behind!  On the 11th, we had a combo birthday party for Curt and Grandma Simmons (her 92nd).  Fajitas was the menu item, a favorite of Grandmas'.
We have had beautiful Spring weather- very unusual for this time of year.  The day before, Amie and I took the four little kids to the park.  Grayson discovered Doritos(much to his Mom's dismay), following a picnic lunch, and loved the out of doors.  The kids took turns riding down the slide with him, practicing the monkey bars and running off energy.
St. Patricks Day has also come and gone....not much to report on that other than I  love the menu for the day, and why is it we only have corned beef and cabbage once a year?  So delicious.  I also love to decorate my year-round holiday tree with the Shamrock lights and green tinsel, to say nothing of my mantel decor... Just thinking about getting ready to switch it all out for Easter stuff....

Why only once a year?

Saturday, already!

It's been quite a week.  Carrie was released from the Rehab hospital on Thursday afternoon and is recovering at home.
I'm not quite sure how much rest she's going to get today as Spencer and Curt are having a garage sale at the house as I type!
Have I mentioned that the two of them started buying storage units last summer inspired by the "Storage Wars" television series?  Today their plan is to pare down some "inventory".
Yesterday I volunteered to take a carload of 6th graders to the Denver Mint (Emma's class).  I'm pretty sure they will never ask me to drive again because as we caravaned to Denver, then to a park for lunch, who do you think got lost following the wrong car?  Luckily, it's the cell phone era and the kids were able to call their teacher for driving directions.
After getting back home, I went to Carries to lend a hand with dishes, laundry and kids.  I think she's doing really well, although I doubt SHE feels the same.  Brad made dinner for the family and brought it over.  Can I just say, "Praise the Lord for Chef Brad once again!"

Sunday....

So Sunday dinner is over for one more week!  We had some delicious french dip sandwiches - tender beef on whole wheat rolls with sauteed onions, green pepper and mushrooms & provolone cheese.  The sandwiches were accompanied by sweet potato fries and tossed salad.  Meredith brought her usual yummy dessert, this week being chocolate cake.  The kids put on a play for us, complete with costumes, hair design and makeup. We missed Carrie who was still laid up in the Rehab Center....

new knees

Carrie's surgery is behind her now and tomorrow she will leave the hospital and go to a rehab facility.  The family is happy that she will be taken care of and get the therapy she will need to heal.  Today when I visited her, she was SO loopy....drug talk.  We are so hopeful that this will make her life better!

A VERY Happy Birthday to my wonderful son, Curt, on his 35th!  We are all going to see "The Lorax"  tonight after having dinner at their house.
